Damaged roof housing advice

A damaged roof can, fairly quickly, become a big problem especially in the autumn/winter months when we are exposed to less pleasant weather conditions. Even the smallest of holes, or even missing roof tiles, can cause rain to get inside the property. Over time this can cause longstanding damage to the roof space and ceilings and create damp conditions in some of the rooms in your property. If you notice missing roof or ridge tiles, or worse still, holes in the roof then you must notify your landlord immediately, who are obliged to come and inspect the issue and carry out any necessary repairs. If you have notified your landlord and then have either not responded or not done what they said they would, then contact us.

What to do if you are renting a property with a damaged roof

Make a complaint to your landlord as soon as possible. Make sure that you keep a record of your complaint such as the person you reported it to and the date. Please keep any emails or copies of submission forms you send/complete.

2. Capture Evidence

Take photographs of the disrepair and keep them safe.

3. Make a claim

If your landlord does not respond to your complaints in a reasonable time, then contact us, and we can take it from there.
